Tandem Discovery Flight

Your First Time in the Air

A tandem intro flight is the fastest way to know if paramotoring is for you. You fly strapped side-by-side with an experienced instructor on a two-seat paramotor - no training required, no prior experience needed. Just show up, get briefed, and go fly.

Flights last approximately 20 to 30 minutes depending on conditions. You will experience the full sensation of powered paragliding - the launch run, the climb, the silence at altitude, and the landing - all with an instructor in full control alongside you. Most students who do a tandem flight sign up for the full PPG Pilot Training course within the week.

Flights take place at our Washington locations - Tacoma, Everett, Ocean Shores, or Bellingham - selected on the day based on weather and wind. We will confirm the site the morning of your flight.

What to Expect

Before You Arrive

Book & Confirm

After booking you will receive a confirmation with location details, a weather policy explanation, and a prep list. We confirm the flying site the morning of your appointment based on conditions. Dress in comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes you can run in. No special gear is required - everything is provided.

On Arrival

Ground Brief

Your instructor will walk you through the equipment, how the harness works, what the launch run feels like, and what to expect in the air. The brief takes about 20 minutes. We answer every question before anyone runs.

The Launch

Running Into the Sky

Launch is a short run into the wind with the wing inflated overhead. The instructor controls the motor and the wing - your only job is to keep your feet moving until they leave the ground. Most students are surprised by how natural it feels.

In the Air

~20–30 Minutes of Flight

Once airborne your instructor throttles back and you cruise at a comfortable altitude over the Washington landscape. You can take the controls briefly if you want - or just sit back and take it in. Communication is via radio headset the entire time.

The Landing

Feet Down, Debrief

Landings are smooth and slow. After touchdown your instructor debriefs the flight, answers any questions, and talks you through what a full training course would look like if you want to take it further. There is no pressure - but most people want to keep going.

Private One-on-One Session

Pilot Consultation

One hour, one-on-one with an experienced Washington paramotor pilot. This session is designed for anyone who wants real answers before making a decision - whether that's committing to training, buying gear, choosing a wing, figuring out where to fly in the Pacific Northwest, or working through a specific challenge they have been stuck on.

There is no sales agenda. You get an honest conversation with someone who has logged serious hours flying Washington's varied conditions - mountains, coast, flatlands, and everything in between. Ask whatever you need to ask.

Sessions can be held in person at one of our training sites, or over video call if you are not local. Bring your specific questions, gear questions, or just an open mind.

What Pilots Use It For

"Am I ready to train?"

Not sure if you are physically or mentally prepared for the full PPG Pilot Training course? Spend an hour with an instructor who will give you an honest, experience-based answer.

"What gear should I buy?"

Motor, wing, harness, reserve - the choices are overwhelming and the wrong purchase can cost thousands. We help you match gear to your weight, goals, and the conditions you will fly in Washington.

"I am self-taught and have bad habits."

A lot of pilots figure out they have picked up dangerous technique through trial and error. A consultation can identify what to fix and give you a plan to address it before those habits cause a problem.

"Where do I fly in Washington?"

Site knowledge in the Pacific Northwest is hard-won. We walk you through the sites we use, the seasonal patterns, airspace considerations, and how to read conditions specific to this region.

"I bought gear. Now what?"

Equipment arrived, forum rabbit holes have not helped, and you are not confident enough to fly alone. A session can bridge the gap between gear-owner and pilot.

"I have not flown in a year."

Currency matters in paramotoring. If you have been grounded for a season or more, use this session to talk through a safe return-to-flying plan and decide whether a refresher day in the air makes sense.

Common Questions

Is the tandem flight safe with no experience?

Yes. On a tandem flight the instructor operates the paramotor and controls the wing entirely. Your role is passenger plus participant - you experience everything without being responsible for any of it. We have briefed and flown hundreds of first-timers.

What is the weight limit for the tandem flight?

260 lbs. This is a hard limit set by the equipment - not a judgment. If you are close to the limit, contact us before booking and we will confirm. We would rather have that conversation upfront than on the day.

What if weather cancels my tandem flight?

We reschedule at no charge, no questions asked. Washington weather requires flexibility and we have dealt with it for years. We will give you as much notice as possible and work with your schedule to find a new date.

Can I bring someone to watch the tandem flight?

Yes. Spectators are welcome at the launch field. The flying site is confirmed the morning of your appointment - we will share directions when we confirm. There is plenty of room to watch and take photos from the field.

Will the consultation feel like a sales pitch?

No. We sell training courses, not gear. The consultation exists because people asked us for an honest, no-pressure way to get real answers before committing. If the answer to your question is "you are not ready yet" or "you do not need to spend that much on a wing," that is what we will tell you.

Can I do both on the same day?

Yes. Book the tandem flight and add a consultation session after the debrief. It is actually one of the most efficient ways to use the day - you come away with the physical experience of flight and a clear plan for what comes next.
